As well as L’homme armé, there is another tune that we could describe as a favourite of the Burgundians: De tous biens playne was also set to music countless times, and recycled by polyphonists of the highest order. Doulce Mémoire and Denis Raisin Dadre have built a programme around instrumental settings of this song by Van Ghizeghem, Busnois and Morton. It is deceptively simple music that is seldom performed but that will yield a fascinating result in the hands of Doulce Mémoire.
