“Like their last project, this one is another well-constructed success. The Constantinople 1453 theme allows the ensemble to explore the concept of borders both geographically (East meets West) and historically (the cusp of the medieval and modern eras).  Du Fay’s Lamentation rubs elbows with a selection of songs and rare, well-chosen fifteenth-century basses danses. These enable the listener to sample a variety of melodies from the period, which blend perfectly with the singer’s voice and the four Turkish instrumentalists.”
